Small switches that can be set manually for two different values (usually ON or OFF).  For example, LaserWriter II∂∑ and LaserWriter II∂∑π printer DIP switches control functions such as mode of operation, serial port configuration, and communications parameters.  DIP is an abbreviation for dual in-line package.
